175 YEARS SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF MIDWIFERY SCHOOL IN ZADAR

      Regarding 175th anniversary since the foundation of midwifery school in Zadar, a suitable monograph called "175 years since the foundation of midwifery school in Zadar", in which the schools history, since it's foundation, in the far 1820., until today, was presented.
      Monograph about the first midwifery school in Croatia, whose publisher was Ante Kuzmanic Medical High school, was written in few different parts. First part was written by Doctor Mirko Jamnicki Dojmi (who is the head editor of the monograph), showing the development of midwifery school since the foundation in the 1820. until abolishment 1918. what was the result of the unfortunate Rapall agreement, when Zadar was torn-off homeland and was violently annexed to Italy. In the second part prof.dr. Josip Franicevic showed the time since the rebirth 1948. until 1977., when the midwifery school was united with the nursing school to one medical highschool. Principal, prof. Davor Vidakovic and education counsellor Vera Baric wrote about Medical higschool since 1977. until today, with a special review on the schools work during the war of independence, and prof.dr. Slavko Perovic writes about eminent teachers and principals of the midwifery school since it's foundation until the year 1950. The editor interwievs the last midwifery school principal prof. dr. Josip Franicevic, and writes the epilogue in which he comments on other important dates in Zadar's health care and important days in Zadar's education.
      The monograph is wealthy illustrated with a large number of pictures from students and their teachers, and with copies of original documents, that can testify about duration and schools work, that can be found in the rich treasury of Zadar's archives. The photograph on the front cover represents the Roman dropper in a shape of a bird that served to medical purposes, which was made in 1st or 2nd century, found in antique Starigrad, while the picture on the back cover represents Egyptian and Helens god of health Sebaceous, made in 3rd century discovered in the archaeological diggings on Zadar's Forum.
