In September 2020, our school joined the GLOBE program. Since the school already has a teacher - a leader trained in the GLOBE course, prof. geography Marijana Škunca-Vrkić, it was not difficult to join the GLOBE program.

Becoming a GLOBE school means that the school name and basic data will appear on the world list of schools on the GLOBE website (www.globe.gov), that the environmental measurement data entered by the school will enter the GLOBE database and be available and visible on Internet in the form of numerical tables, charts and maps, that is, it will be able to be used to create GLOBE displays and visualizations. It also means that the school will be able to connect with other GLOBE schools from all over the world, as well as with scientists in charge of certain areas of research, using GLOBE Mail.

The idea for the GLOBE science and education program (Global Learning and Observation for the Benefit of the Environment) was announced on Earth Day in 1994 by then-US Vice President Al Gore. On the same day (April 22), 1995, the program was launched in the United States, and the governments of many countries around the world signed agreements with American representatives on the implementation of the GLOBE program. Croatia was among the first countries to implement this global program (the agreement was signed on April 13, 1995). The co-signatories of the Agreement on the Implementation of the GLOBE Program in Croatia are the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction, and direct implementation is entrusted to the Education Institute of the Republic of Croatia.

The GLOBE program envisages regular and continuous student measurements and observations in the immediate school environment. Measurements and observations are made in the area of ​​atmosphere, water, soil and cover. The collected results are entered into a common database on the GLOBE server, which is open and available to all visitors via the Internet at: www.globe.gov

During the program, an interdisciplinary cooperation is planned with biology teacher Gabriela Marin, who will carry out the following activities with second grade students: testing of abiotic factors, determination of water, soil and air pollution, determination of population density. Students will present the results of their research in the form of a Power point presentation during the School Day activities. The collected data will be used to write a research paper for the purpose of the competition.

The GLOBE team of our school has already started with measurements in the field of atmosphere, phenology and biometrics. We hope to cooperate on various projects between schools and that we will successfully present ourselves at the upcoming inter-county and state festivals.
